Who We Are

John majored in Computer Science at California State University, Stanislaus. After that he moved on to working on his Ph.D in Environmental Systems at the University of California, Merced. His interests include environmental engineering, embedded systems, data visualization, math and programming. He currently is a lecturer at UC in the Computer Science and Engineering department.

He has developed numerous web applications using Django, Rails, and (perhaps sadly) PHP and loves to use and write open source software.

In his off-duty hours, John is busy helping his wife raise two wonderful kids, their dog Zem, two cats and a fish. Sometimes he’s successful with the fish, but he’s not entirely certain about the rest.

When he has ‘spare’ time, his other interests include motorcycles, air-cooled Volkswagens, hiking, kayaking, gardening, home improvement projects, and hobby electronics.

Resident expert on MySQL replication, database tuning and high-performance I/O. She’s a whiz with DRBD and GFS, and did we mention her ability to scale large systems?

Not to mention she’s cute.
